Sociological issues have always been present since the emergence of humanity. Interactions that presented people with opportunities have sometimes caused issues that manifested themselves in violence and destruction. This paper explores three topics that can be viewed in the context of large-scale issues. These issues are divorce and child well-being, race and educational level, and gender inequalities at work. Besides being connected to global concerns, such as child welfare, racism, and equality, the mentioned topics can be viewed in isolation.
Significantly, a topic is viewed from different perspectives to make a sound assessment. Sociological imagination allows one to see issues as a sophisticated system of social interactions (Benokraitis, 2016). For instance, the influence of divorce on child well-being can be studied in the context of childhood poverty. The reason is that statistical evidence shows that children with a single parent are more likely to have a disrupted childhood. This disruption may be later manifested in deteriorated health. Single parents may not provide food consistently for their children. However, the issue of divorce is complex and has many other implications. For example, children with single parents are more likely to have low academic performance, which will affect their adulthood.
The issue of race and educational level is similar – children of racial minorities do not perform well at school, which is due to discrimination at institutions. However, this topic can be viewed outside of the context of racism. For instance, the educational level may be affected by the quality of the system in general. The same is true for gender inequalities at work – while the issue is primarily connected with the notion of gender equality, the issue is distinct in the way that it can also be viewed through the prism of corporate management.
