Living in the Urban Areas vs. Living in Rural Areas

Introduction

Living in the urban and rural areas is entirely different. Each mentioned place has various advantages and disadvantages. People choose a suitable type of area according to their preferences and needs. Residents of the urban cities can quickly get a prestigious profession and work, but there is practically no time for rest and communication with nature. The current paper compares living in urban and rural areas emphasizing the advantages and disadvantages.

General Comparison

Comparing the city and rural areas, it should be highlighted that there are no large industries and enterprises in small settlements. On the contrary, the urban areas have many retail outlets and entertainment facilities. Subsistence farming prevails in the villages, while industrial production is developed in cities. In urban areas, houses in 90% of cases are multi-story. In contrast, there are many private two-story buildings in the rural areas with gardens and orchards allowing people to grow different products. Many villagers work in small businesses or factories that are near their settlements. Urban residents are forced to spend much time getting to their place of work due to the more extensive distances.

Even a small city has a modern developed infrastructure, including schools and universities. In most cases, there is only one school per region in rural areas. Since there is no rapid flow of cars, an active social sphere, nightlife, life in the countryside flows measuredly and calmly. On the contrary, in urban cities, people constantly have to rush as time is limited. Rural residents constantly show interest in the life of their neighbors; they are more open to communication. The situation is entirely different with the people from urban cities. Despite the large areas and crowded streets of the cities, people often feel lonely, trying to find a place for solitude.

Advantages and Disadvantage

Living in urban and rural areas can have particular advantages and disadvantages. In cities, it is easier to find a more promising job. It should also be taken into account that medical services are also better in the city, so the quality of life there in terms of the social sphere is higher. At the same time, there are a lot of disadvantages of living in urban areas. Many residents live in rented apartments, which is why the cost of housing and utility bills can be half or more of the budget. Poor ecology due to many cars and wastes from industrial facilities causes significant harm to health.

The residents of the rural areas have the possibility to get organic fruits and vegetables, fresh milk, eggs, and meat. As a result, the people’s health in villages is better. Another significant advantage of living in the countryside is low real estate prices. Considering the disadvantages of living in rural areas, the limited career and education opportunities should be mentioned. Life in the village can be considered boring because people have no chance, for example, to visit a large shopping center, go to an amusement park, a festival, or a concert.

Conclusion

Therefore, comparing the rural and urban lifestyles, each of them has positive and negative aspects. The rural way of life is more calm, measured, and unhurried. In the city, all events require a quick reaction and dynamic response. Residents of rural areas often aspire to move to the city seeking more diverse career and educational opportunities. However, others want to leave crowded towns to be closer to nature. The choice of the place of living depends on many factors such as people’s characters, life aims, and individual preferences.
