Retail Stores as Cultural Phenomenon in Cities

I do not see retail stores as a big problem because I see modern American society filled with abundance and consumerism. At the moment, it seems to me, American society could not live differently, and people are used to the fact that shopping is sewn logically and harmoniously into their leisure time. I would like to perhaps act as an apologist for this issue because many families treat visiting such stores as a vacation. My friends and acquaintances often make appointments for me at the entrance to a particular store, or one of us plans to find something for himself there. People do not always spend money in such stores, especially the largest ones. Many go there to pass the time and look at the goods: souvenirs, small stationery, and children’s toys. Children are drawn to the bright colors of the retail stores and have fun stroking the next keychain while their parents are shopping. Retail stores are a cultural and urban phenomenon in large cities with developed economies, so I cannot criticize them.

I think that COVID-19 and international sanctions on different countries show the importance of franchising, so I would love to be a part of this system. Given recent developments, I would happily choose UPS, the world’s largest franchisor in the retail shipping, postal and printing sectors. COVID-19 has allowed me to see firsthand how much people can depend on the post office and its workers when even special protective plates or items are delivered after hours of thorough communication with carriers. Airplanes, ships, and land transport – it seemed that this was the only salvation for people who did not want to lose touch with reality during the lockdown. It impressed me, so I sincerely believe my choice is very reliable.
