Analyzing students’ life in college, there are two sides to such life. On the one side, there is the life depicted in movies, which is usually care-free, and with little or no mentioning of the main aspect of college, which is class attendance. On the other side, real-life in college consists of several mandatory elements, which might not be so pleasant from the student’s point of view. Do these two sides get along together? Certainly. Nevertheless, considering the amount of media attention given to the care-free side, it will be fair to investigate the other side as well.
Class Attendance
College life is more than just a mix of opportunities and activities that the students can participate in. In that regard, the main essence of attending college is studying. Thus, the responsibility of putting the priority for course selection, class attendance, and any other activities will be students’.
Thus, it would be recommended that before engaging in any external activities in college, the students should integrate into the college’s study rhythm, i.e. the getting acquainted with the pattern of attending all the classes, choosing the courses to attend, and obtaining the habit of doing all the assignments in time. In such a way, the students will learn how to manage their time, putting the priority on acquiring knowledge, while the time for other activities will emerge by itself.
Exams and Course Works
One of the most common students’ mistakes is the habit of setting aside the preparations for exams and course works until the last minute. It is one of the peculiarities that might have been acquired through the images given in most college movies. The characters of most teen movies party all the time during the semester, and just before the day of the exam they study one night, and they succeed. That is not the way the preparations go in college, considering the stakes put on exam grades, and the temporary pleasures given in return. Thus, timely preparations should be considered throughout the semester.
