Anxiety disorders, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and conduct disorder are among the most common mental health issues children confront.

Children with anxiety disorders frequently experience physical symptoms such as migraines or stomachaches, and they may avoid certain situations and activities. They experience out-of-control feelings of anxiety or fear that interfere with their daily existence (Ford et al., 2021). Children may exhibit symptoms of melancholy that differ from those of adults. Improve a child’s well-being and set them up for future success by giving them access to educational and enriching experiences that foster cognitive growth. The ability to control one’s emotions is important since it helps children deal with stressful events and feel more in control of their lives (Ford et al., 2021). Children’s emotional control can be enhanced by teaching them techniques like mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy for dealing with difficult emotions.

The health and happiness of children can be enhanced through various interventions and approaches. For children with emotional or behavioral issues, play therapy is one example of a helpful intervention (Ford et al., 2021). Children can feel comfortable sharing their emotions and developing coping skills in play therapy. Positive parenting is another successful method, including praising and rewarding children and setting firm limits. Children’s emotional and behavioral health can benefit from attentive and caring parents.

Fostering children’s emotional and psychological wellness is essential to their growth and development as people. Ford et al. (2021) found that children with mental health disorders had a higher prevalence of academic and social challenges and inferior adult outcomes. As a result, preventing and treating mental health issues in at-risk young people should be a top priority. Examples of this are ensuring children have access to mental health care, encouraging healthy friendships, and instructing them on dealing with stress and managing their emotions.

Methods for assessing a child’s emotional well-being have been investigated, and the significance of children’s mental health has been examined. Researchers in the future should look into how well various therapies and methods work to boost children’s emotional well-being. Positive mental health and well-being in children from varied origins require the development of culturally sensitive interventions.
