Introduction
With the development of AI technologies, they have become increasingly humanlike, and people have started to wonder: where will this take humanity? Deep learning, the most prevalent machine-learning paradigm today, draws influence from the brain. It begins with a greatly simplified mathematical representation of how a neuron functions and then constructs a network from millions of these elements. It then lets the machine acquire knowledge by progressively strengthening the connections of neurons that light up together when looking at data (Domingos 90).
Reasons
However, AI technologies cannot cause harm, as they are programmed solely for human benefit. They are only capable of completing tasks assigned by humans and do not possess free will. Though AI technologies can learn from their own experience, their evolution will also someday come to an end.
AI technologies are only capable of completing tasks assigned by humans. Regardless of how they gain experience, the goals do not change. Responses that do not progress towards the goal are immediately rejected (Domingos 91).
AI technologies are also unable to disobey people, since they lack free will. Humans get to verify that the output generated by the machines meets the objectives. They can further confirm that the technologies do not breach any of the limits set for them (Domingos 91).
Although AI systems can learn from their own experiences, their progress will inevitably come to an end. It simply cannot continue indefinitely because the laws of physics impose stringent limits on the power even quantum computers may have, and in some ways, scientists are not far from reaching them (Domingos 91). Therefore, AI technologies will never be able to overpower humans.
Opposing Viewpoint
While AI technologies have the potential to benefit humanity in numerous ways, it is important to acknowledge that they can also pose risks and cause harm if not used responsibly. As Domingos states, AI systems are created by humans and are therefore subject to human biases, errors, and misuse (92). AI-powered weapons and surveillance technologies create significant ethical and security problems that must be addressed.
AI systems frequently rely on large volumes of data, raising concerns about privacy and security. Unauthorized access to sensitive data may result in privacy violations, identity theft, or surveillance abuses if sufficient controls are not in place. Deepfake technology, for instance, enables the fabrication of highly convincing fake films and audio recordings that can fool and influence audiences.
Counteracting Opposing Viewpoint
To ensure that AI technologies mainly benefit humans, they must be developed and deployed with ethics, transparency, and accountability in mind. This entails conducting thorough bias testing, maintaining data privacy and security, and developing legislation to govern the use of AI systems in sensitive areas such as security and criminal justice.

AI technologies are incapable of causing harm; consequently, they will only serve humanity. AI systems can only execute tasks assigned by humans and do not have free will.
