Deep Dive Reading and Intercultural Communication

The articles “Intercultural communication competence in specialized languages and contexts” by Candel-Mora and “A Review on Intercultural Communication Competence for Business Research” by Topcu are evaluated in the reading reflection on intercultural communication. Candel-Mora’s study of the literature on cross-cultural-specific tools focuses on measuring an individual’s capacity to converse in a different language internationally by addressing the general demands of learners in generic circumstances. His paper presents a literature review on the basic dimensions of international competence and illustrates some tools for intercultural communication in customized communication environments (Candel-Mora, 2019). The paper suggests a textual analysis of some of the most crucial intercultural communication papers over the last five years to find research possibilities tailored to the process of teaching specialized languages. This article becomes clear just after a few paragraphs and not from the start; however, the report requires a briefer start to attract a larger audience to read it.

Topcu’s study uses studies related to intercultural communication hence enhancing a deeper understanding of the context. Among the studies he uses is the Primary Message System proposed by Hall to show a broader depiction of culture studies while handling a particular phenomenon (Topcu & Eroglu, 2017). Culture Shock by Oberg is another study used that portrays the crucial role of transparency and openness in the welfare of individuals in a social setting. Topcu’s study is significant and resounding in concept when viewed entirely. This paper provides a broad overview of intercultural communication competence (Grothe, 2020). The various external studies used in these articles are clearly stated, and they inform the audience more about the subject. The provision of a clear statement lends credence to the rest of the content. However, this source does not explain enough theories behind it, which is audience inappropriate.

Overall, the two sources thoroughly enlighten the reader on intercultural communication and provide rational reasoning for more research efforts in this area. Despite a few shortcomings, the two studies are well written with an interesting point of view and essential themes, facilitating understanding of the intercultural communication concept. These studies have shed light on phenomena ranging from the emergence of cross-cultural characteristics to the functioning of intercultural communication in everyday life.
