Introduction
Digital technology has become a part of my life, but I still differentiate between the digital and real-world, although for some, this line is already blurred. I also understand that my life will be completely different without the numerous devices I have. Digital technology has shaped my personal, academic, and professional life making me closer to others. As for my personal life, technology helps me feel connected but I have almost no time to communicate with my close ones.
Various applications help me communicate with people I love without spending hours to reach them. My academic and professional lives have also been shaped substantially. The digital world is a universe of knowledge and opportunities. I gain knowledge and skills with the help of the Internet. I landed a job with the help of an application instead of reviewing dozens of print materials in dozens of journals and newspapers. Digital technology has made knowledge and communication more accessible and immediate.
Main body
Digital citizenship can help contemporary society benefit from the utilization of technology and address associated challenges. Digital citizenship can be defined as the responsible use of the Internet and various devices, providing accurate information and using verified sources. Digital citizenship can be seen as behavior equal to the one in the real world setting with its legal, moral, and ethical aspects.
I am and will be a digital citizen as I behave accordingly in my personal, professional, and academic life. As for my personal life, I always provide accurate information about myself and check the source of information, which is specifically critical as far as financial issues are concerned. In my professional life, I am always polite when communicating with my colleagues, which is also a component of digital citizenship. In my academic life, I use verified sources and provide references to them to avoid plagiarism.
I use Excel to create my budget, which makes my life easier. As to my professional life, I tend to use this tool to create plans and schedules. In my academic life, I find Excel a useful instrument for reviewing sources when writing academic papers. PowerPoint presentations have also become an indispensable part of my life. As for my personal life, I use it to present important information in an interesting form for my friend and my little nephews.
This instrument is critical for my academic and professional life as I often have to present some information. PowerPoint presentations are instrumental in delivering effective speeches. Finally, I also utilize Word extensively due to its usability. I write the drafts of emails to my relatives and friends in Word. It often takes several days to write a proper email for some of my relatives, so I need this tool. I write numerous academic papers and send them to instructors using Word as it is an accepted format. I also use Word in my professional life due to the same reasons as various documents are created in Word.
As far as my use of social media is concerned, I do not use it excessively. I mainly use Facebook to maintain contacts (and share news) with relatives, friends, and close ones. I believe modern people have become obsessed with numerous types of social media and prefer the digital world to reality. Anonymity social media offer often makes people less responsible, which may become a considerable hazard for many. However, these tools are still helpful as they are instrumental in being connected.
Conclusion
My future may also depend on my ability to handle information, but many tools can help me make sensible decisions. My credit card information is an important piece of data as I can control my expenses. I understand that I should remain responsible and spend reasonably. Another bit of information is related to loans, as I learned about the benefits of paying as early as possible. As for my future retirement, the need to use both Roth and traditional 401(k) is an important piece of information as it allows me to maximize my savings.
