Climate change is a challenging aspect that affects human health and social and economic status. The goal of mitigating greenhouse gas is to limit the average global temperature. The objectives include moving incentives to the right place, taking responsibility together with enterprises and the government, and disconnecting developmental approaches from carbon emissions (Azevedo, 2015). Therefore, climate change strategies pose ethical, moral, and religious concerns that influence people to bring change and conserve the environment.
Climate change is a threat to humanity, and thus its mitigation is becoming a significant concern. The moral issue is whether people should take personal responsibility to reduce their emissions. I support the perception that it is morally right for individuals to minimize their greenhouse gas emissions, thus contributing to climate change. The collective solution for greenhouse gases is to limit the global average temperature; therefore, individuals should adopt and share the political commitment, thus reducing emissions (Hedberg, 2018). Hence, people should consider integrity an essential virtue and concern to value personal and political action on climate change.
The ethical view for climate change progress is a concern for others’ health and well-being. Solidarity and participation are moral values that guide one to recognize others, either human or non-human, and the effects of greenhouse gases. The government and institutions should involve the public in decision-making regarding climate change strategies and effective ways to mitigate greenhouse gases (Hedberg, 2018). Christians are also obliged to love and care for their neighbors in the present and future generations (Hedberg, 2019). Christians are commanded to take care of God’s creation; hence, conserve the environment reducing developmental effects to other creatures.
The ethics, religious and moral views will guide the society and government towards successfully mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. People taking responsibility together with the government indicate caring for one another and solidarity (Azevedo, 2015). It motivates people toward adopting the change and achieving climate change goals. Hence, taking the initiative to reduce individual greenhouse gas emissions is offering justice to the universe, thus minimizing the risks of climate change.
