Introduction

Asperser’s disorder is generally a mild form of the common autistic syndrome observed in children, and form part of the autism spectrum. The most common characteristics in affected individuals include social isolation and, to some extent, eccentric behaviors mainly observed during childhood (Attwood, p. 7). Impairments occur especially in non-verbal communication and interaction with other children. The condition mainly affects children in the pre-adolescent stage. Although biological factors play an important role in the etiology of autism, inconsistency in the pattern and evidence on brain imaging studies exist due to the heterogeneity in the groups.

The incidence of asperser’s syndrome is on the rise in adolescents. More importantly, stigma has a great impact on the development of children into early adulthood. Based on the clinical findings, concerted efforts have been put forward in a bid to improve social integration and the capabilities in communication (Attwood, p. 12). The integration of productive activities with the normal daily schedule of the students is among the innovative strategies imperative in controlling stigma. The utilization of artistic and creative activities has proved effective in controlling the development of the asperser’s syndrome and stigma (Paul, p. 87). Moreover, the medical teams have started providing services outside conventional medicine basing their judgments on evidence-based practice. The exclusion of several students from mainstream schools is rampant. However, the incorporation of appropriate guidelines and assessments on the educational needs has put the schools on the right path in enhancing the social life of the affected individuals. In line with this, overcoming the barriers to the effective parent partnership and respect for children’s participation rights must occur (Neil & Lewis, p. 132).

The study is mainly informed by the limited studies carried in this area. The closeness and dearness of the asperser’s disorder to my life and the associated impact of stigma on society has also occasioned the development of this study. The paper will aim to outline the development of asperser’s disorder while looking into the impact of stigma on the lives of the affected individuals and society. The study will also shed light on the methods imperative in overcoming and mitigating the impacts of aspersers in society.

Methodology

The study will take a cross-sectional perspective reliant on a review of online scholarly materials on the impact of aspersers. Consideration will be given to scholarly materials published in the last two decades. Qualitative analysis of the collected data will be undertaken to give a clear picture of the current situation of the asperser’s condition. Furthermore, the presentation will be achieved through prose form.
