In my opinion, the present highway funding structure has merits and demerits related to the taxes paid by motor carriers. I hold the view that one of the benefits of highway funding is that fuel charges generate a lot of income for the exchequer without affecting fuel prices. In addition, financing expressways contributes to a prosperous country if the assets are well managed. Government control is not one of the best ways to manage public resources such as roads (Tan et al. 129688). Therefore, it is disadvantageous for the government to control the road, making the people pay double toll fees such as those involved in the construction and maintenance. Thus, it would be an excessive toll for people to pay. People would be paying a little more of what they would have been expecting. In addition, governments might divert finances generated from such a road to fund other purposes and beat the logic of what they were meant for in the first place.
I think sustainable ways by Walmart will significantly influence the logistics industry in various ways, and most players will follow suit and implement some of its strategies. For almost two decades, the lead retailer introduced an ambitious plan to ensure its business was sustainable. In my view, Walmart has managed to fight climate change that it had been accused of having contributed for some few years. In this case, the company has continued to make some eco-friendly decisions that have made business sense (Chen et al. 1161). The retailer has been one of the most prominent companies that have instituted measures to cut fuel usage in its logistics operations and supply chain. Cutting its fleet of trucks has contributed immensely to a considerable reduction in fuel costs and carbon emissions, which safeguards the environment. In addition, I think the retailer has done a tremendous job in encouraging more multi-stop logistics routes and reducing the mileage of its trucks traveling half-full or empty. It is excellent how they push their company to the limit in sustainable ways to demonstrate a positive image and leadership, which will impact the more significant logistics industry.
