Almroth and Eggert (2019) offer a thorough analysis of the topic, covering a variety of aspects, from the origin of plastic to its impact on marine ecosystems and human health. Cózar et al. (2021) present a unique perspective on the spatial distribution and formation of marine litter accumulations, termed “litter windrows.” Jepsen and Bruyn (2019) provide a focused examination of a specific aspect of plastic pollution: pinniped entanglement. This review consolidates case studies and identifies trends in entanglements.
