Pro-Democratic Political Position in the US

Introduction: presenting a political position

It has been historically recognized that the Democratic Party has had many more members and supporters in comparison with the Republican Party. However, this tendency has gradually become less popular. More and more citizens are prone to consider themselves as independent individuals who are reluctant to belong to a particular party. This de-alignment has recently emerged, but still, the parties have a potent impact on their adherents, specifically on their choices during the elections (Dye, 2005, p. 50).

My position has also undergone tangible shifts, which has influenced my choice while voting. As a potent voter, I am still more inclined to support the Democratic Party and, therefore, I adhere to liberal views which underscore the importance of protecting human rights and equality and support such essential ideas as capitalism, democracy, free and fair elections, and freedom of religions. All these issues provide equal terms for all people irrespective of nation, culture, and race to enter education, build a career, and adhere to a peculiar lifestyle.

Historical overview of the US government

Human freedoms and rights are officially introduced in the Declaration of Independence that runes, “… all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness” (A Chronology of US Historical Documents, 2009, n. p.).

Indeed, being in the pursuit of justice and happiness, people hope that the government can meet their expectations and execute duties and obligations in front of the nation. The Constitution of the United States ascertains the people’s rights and equal opportunities for voting and expressing an opinion. An accurate and detailed description of all procedures presenting the document is more congruent with liberal views on politics.

Describing my political views

Being more inclined to think liberally, I believe that the Democratic Party is more associated with the initially established regulations and rules, as it is presented above. The democratic perspective seems to be much more promising and effective because, to my mind, they can promote the welfare of the United States. When delving deeper into the liberal philosophy, democrats are more concerned with private ownership as well and, therefore, they can ensure the nation with diligent social and material status (Lakoff, 2002, p. 3).

Besides, as I am on my way to my career development, I consider it important to develop education and provide wider access to the learning process. Talented students should have many more possibilities for learning and I firmly believe that the democratic government can provide these possibilities. Finally, due to the rise of cultural diversity issues, liberalism seeks solutions to solving the problems of cultural identity and promoting respect and independence for each cultural community.

Conclusion: the importance of standing in a particular political position

As can be seen from the above-presented considerations, the importance of holding a particular position matter when it comes to protecting human rights and freedoms. The right to vote and respect other people’s rights is an utmost duty that each person should follow. Also, liberal and conservative views significantly differ from each other in terms of the conception of morality and ideologies and position identification provides you with several principles and regulations you should respect. Finally, a certain political position also makes a person more involved in the regulation of social, economical, and political processes in the country.
