Proposed Computer Network Design for Dreamz Inc.

Computer networks facilitate communication between systems while considering the most efficient path to send information from its source to its destination. As a result, the main objective of a network model is to facilitate communication between processes on different hosts. Thus, a network model should represent the needs of users and ensure unmatched interoperability between devices as though they are comprised of a single system. On that account, it is crucial to consider several parameters when selecting a network model for specific purposes. Given the expansion initiatives and the needs of the various departments at Dreamz Inc., the recommendable computer network model to adopt is the TCP/IP model, also known as the Transmission Control Protocol model. Therefore, this essay explains why this model is more effective in connecting the branches of the organization.

One of the main advantages of the TCP/IP model is its use of protocol implementation and support. According to Goralski (2017), one of the most critical issues network designers face when creating computer systems is acquiring reliable information to generate software that serves end-user needs from a protocol. However, the protocol implementation and support of the TCP/IP model will allow the organization to maximize the productivity of communication software development for its information networks since it establishes solutions for protocol verification and automatic implementation (Sönmez et al., 2018). As a result, the network will support seamless communication and integration of different hardware and software in departments according to their needs.

Additionally, the TCP/IP model is divided into five layers with designated functions and structure, making it simple and easy to use for various purposes in the organization. These layers include the physical, data link, network, transport, and application layers, which are often tied together to support decision-making and communication between different layers. Subsequently, all computers on the network will have software that operates at the different layers and support the functions of all layers. Therefore, it will be easier to integrate different applications in computers in the departments and ensure connection to the rest of the computers according to their specific purposes.

Moreover, its layered architecture is beneficial in enabling core functions in the organization since it will allow the system to operate from the main office and assure more reliable uptime to meet the network’s demands. Each layer is designed with a formal language, the protocol, with rules that provide messages that different software should understand. For example, all web applications and internet functions will use HTTP language, allowing computers to easily send messages between each other in all departments and their branches (Goralski, 2017). Additionally, all layers incorporate a Protocol Data Unit for the messages that pass through them, thus enhancing the process of message transmission through the network.

The dynamic selection of a reliable network model for a heterogeneous networking environment is crucial to seamless communication. Therefore, network managers should pay attention to unique computing needs in departments across organizations to ensure that the network is efficient and dependable. The most basic computing needs for all departments in Dreamz Inc. are internet services, email, files, and print. However, the finance and HR departments require additional features like increased bandwidth for oracle access. Therefore, the TCP/IP network model is reliable for this case because it has protocol implementation and support and a layered architecture, with each layer having its designated functions and purpose. Thus, it is easy to use and ensures reliability for all departments and branches in the organization.
