Republican and Democratic Parties Comparison

The Republican party mostly appeals to the working class, traditional regular people who want to lead an ordinary life and have confidence in the future. That is the image of candidates and the party itself. It can be seen on their website: the plain design with the short and robust slogan written on the background in the form of an American flag. They are successful in their attempts to show their image so the average person can understand the message. Still, they could add more inspiring and motivational pieces about their goals and strivings.

The Democratic party might suit people who desire changes and aspire to explore the unknown and improve the system. The first page of their website is bright and represents the goals and ideals of the party that invite people to join them and unite all together to “fight for a better, fairer, and brighter future for every American” (“We are the democratic party – democrats,” n.d., para. 1). They send a clear message that they look for motivated people to implement innovative solutions and work for the greater good. The website of the libertarian party does not represent their ideas clearly, and their home page says nothing about their values or goals. Therefore, if the person is not aware of the libertarian party’s mission, it can be confusing to see the actual image of the party.

Since the USA is probably one of the most diverse countries globally with numerous cultures and ethnicities, two parties would not be enough to represent the whole population. Although it is simpler to have a two-party system that advocates the interests of most Americans, it is easier for them to recruit allies and spread their influence.

Despite all the benefits, the two-party system excludes minorities and limits the possibility of choices. Even with an opportunity of numerous choices, two significant parties dominate among the public. It can be challenging for third-party candidates to win elections, for they are in the minority, and it does not seem possible for them to rise to power. Nowadays, they represent most of the population’s concerns, and libertarians are not powerful enough in comparison. To beat the republicans and democrats, the third party has to satisfy the public’s needs and represent their opinions better than those two parties do.
