Social Media in Healthcare Marketing

The role of social media has grown increasingly over the past decade, with some of the best-known social media sites having morphed into massive promotional platforms of a range of organizations. Similarly to other businesses, healthcare organizations can use social media to their advantage in order to advertise their services to the target population. To advance the Indiana University Health and make it more visible in the competitive healthcare market, one will need to use social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, and TikTok (“Top 10 hospitals using social media for patient engagement,” 2019). The specified platforms will allow introducing the hospital and its services to new audiences, while also advertising the key services effectively. Namely, with the help of TikTok, Indiana University Health will attract the attention of younger customers, whereas Facebook and twitter will increase engagement with target audiences (Somosi et al., 2023). Furthermore, Facebook posts will garner the attention of older customers, whereas the organization’s activity at LinkedIn will introduce it to potential partners and investors. The specified strategies will help the hospital draw the attention of a variety of audiences, ranging from younger customers to aging people.

Furthermore, the integration of the specified social media tools will help illustrate the multiple advantages and options that the hospital has to offer. Specifically, Facebook will help construct a proper brand image that will draw the attention of diverse audiences with the help of a well-constructed narrative. In turn, Instagram will allow accompanying the key statements made by Indiana University Health with visual evidence, particularly, pictures of the latest equipment and advanced technology used to improve and maintain the quality of care. Finally, platforms such as LinkedIn will help Indiana University Health expand the bandwidth of its collaboration, allowing the organization to develop new connections and build collaborations with other companies (Somosi et al., 2023). Thus, social media will help Indiana University Health attract new audiences and build a strong and recognizable brand.
