Strong Password, Its Key Features and Effects

The modern world is becoming more and more technically equipped every year. People buy a large number of devices where they store personal information, work documents and other equally important information. However, in connection with this, there is a constant danger of data leakage and hacking of social networks, phones and computers by scammers. Thus, there is a need to create a strong password to prevent loss and theft of information. This allows users to safely store the documents they need or share them with trusted contacts. A strong password makes it possible to get the desired effect from the safe use of devices and the network. A well-thought-out password is resistant to hacking threats and malware that can destroy the device’s memory. The main points of a good password are uniqueness, length, and the absence of user’s personal information in it.

The main point that affects the effect of a strong password is its uniqueness. In this case, it is resistant to existing threats from the software used to crack passwords. The use of common passwords such as a simple set of numbers or alphabetical order of letters contributes to the rapid destruction of the protection. Users continue to use such digital combinations or words and subsequently become victims of scammers (Guo et al., 2019). However, most modern programs and websites are programmed to fail if the system considers the password to be insecure. In addition, they represent a combination of numbers that the network recognizes as secure and strong. Nevertheless, in this case, the password remains stored on the computer and the user usually does not remember it. Thus, the effect of the password may not last and users can be hacked despite its uniqueness.

The length of the password is one of the reasons for maintaining its strength effect. The weakness of simple passwords is the lack of characters. Users often choose in their favor, referring to the fact that such combinations are easy to remember (Guo et al., 2019). Moreover, they do not think their computer has important data worth hacking into. However, setting a long password increases its complexity and has an overall security effect on the computer. This is due to the fact that in many cases, hacking one server has a strong reaction to others. In addition to setting a short password, users often apply the same combination to all social networks or folders on the device. Thus, they become easy prey for crackers, which reduces the effect of protection and trust in innovative technologies.

Finally, the effects of a strong password are manifested in the non-inclusion of the user’s personal information in it. For better memorization, people use their date of birth or name, which is categorically bad for the protection of their data. Users link several of their devices and use personal information as a password (Pittman & Robinson, 2020). An ill-wisher who indirectly knows a person can use this for criminal purposes and steal personal data. In this case, the effect of a strong password is to pre-determine the blackmail that may follow.

In conclusion, it should be said that the effects of a strong password are varied, however, they come down to protecting the user from data leakage. In this case, attackers cannot steal important information and use it for illegal purposes. To maintain efficiency, users use long passwords, come up with unique combinations, and do not include personal information in protection. Thus, all documents are reliably protected and the probability of their theft is significantly reduced.
