The current breadth of Apple’s product line seems to be quite modest for the company of its size. However, it is important to keep in mind that Apple has to take extensive care of product quality, which explains the small range of product diversity. Nevertheless, there are ways for the firm to expand its product line without compromising its quality. For example, Apple could focus on producing accessories to its existing products, such as a wireless charging mat for the computer mouse (“Upcoming Apple Products Guide”). The specified innovation is bound to attract the attention of new customers, at the same time expanding the company’s product line.
Similarly to the product line breadth, Apple keeps its depth comparatively small to maintain consistency of quality. At the same time, minor adjustments to the depth of the product line are desirable to keep customers engaged and enthusiastic about Apple’s products. Therefore, the range of Apple Watch products could be expanded so that customers could select the ones that fit their style and personality better (Aichner and Gruber 127). Namely, different color schemes and stylistic choices could be introduced into the current options for Apple Watches. In addition, the current range of MacBook computers could be extended by creating a new model with unique properties, such as the possibility of assigning a new function to each of the keys on the keyboard.
