The Military Coup in Myanmar in 2021

Introduction

In the history of countries, various conflicts of interest have been expressed through the confrontation between civilian populations and armed groups. One such conflict was the military coup in Myanmar in 2021. The confrontation occurred between the military government and the civil democratic government of the country. The coup d’Etat example reflects the flaw of the state’s system when significant power has people with access to weapons.

The Event in Myanmar and Coup d’Etat

The events in Myanmar divided the country into two parts. According to Jordt et al., “sr. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, or Tatmadaw, launched a coup overthrowing the country’s democratic government” (1). The military coup leaders began to retaliate against many members of the democratic order. People in such occupations as activists, writers, student leaders, and law-makers were arrested (Jordt et al. 1). The main reason for the event was a conflict of interest over the results of the 2020 elections (Yamahata et al. 22). This military coup was called the Coup d’Etat and significantly influenced all social aspects of life in Myanmar.

Security Risks, Situation Improvements, and Reflection

As types of security threats from a military coup, it is important to highlight different intentions, including within military forces, such as robberies and other crimes. People who have gained access to weapons pose a severe security threat (Yamahata et al. 21). For example, there were protests in Kazakhstan in 2021. Armed men started looting, including banks and other state structures. As suggestions about improving the situation, it is vital to highlight the possibility of external intervention by other countries (Jordt et al. 4). This method would be effective if the situation got out of hand. The second approach is to create negotiating commissions representing the two sides, the military government and the democratic government. Negotiations might help to identify the critical policies of each party. As my reflection, I want to emphasize that such events are highly damaging in the short and long term. The consequences of the military coup called for a new system of government and social institutions in the State.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is important to stress that the experience of the d’Etat military coup is not the first of its kind. However, it shows that no definite conclusions have been drawn regarding the possibility of granting significant power to the country’s armed forces because similar confrontation cases continue to happen. However, a consistent and competent approach will help Myanmar escape this crisis.
