There are many indications that commercial air travel increases, meaning that the number of incidents will also increase without specific measures to decrease the accident rate (Cusick et al., 2017).
ASRS seems to impact safety because of the staff. All ASRS staff members are aviation professionals who have high experience and background as pilots, aviation technicians, or air traffic controllers (Cusick et al., 2017).
FOQA creates a proactive safety environment by entailing routine flight data analysis. It enables early intervention, correcting adverse safety issues before an accident occurs (Cusick et al., 2017).
ERC has a meeting from time to time, reviewing and analyzing the latest ASAP reports. The members of ERC play an essential role in ASAP as they identify potential problems and propose solutions to them (Cusick et al., 2017).
ASRS can be described as a collaborative approach to safety since it collects thousands of reports from pilots, flight attendants, technicians, and other industry representatives. ASRS contains global data accessible to anyone, meaning that everyone in the industry shares information to improve safety (Cusick et al., 2017).
I would convince my colleagues by telling them that all LOSA observers are highly trained. They are usually trusted and well-prepared airline captains, and there is no reason to hesitate when allowing them to ride your jumpseat.
The main drawback of airlines developing their own programs under AQP is the inconsistency of those programs (Cusick et al., 2017). In a critical situation where pilots trained in different airlines have to collaborate, there may be significant negative consequences caused by misunderstanding.
Accessing much data under the ASIAS program may have negative consequences because of the government’s involvement. There may be governmental information that some pilots or other people might exploit, taking advantage of their position.
OSHA aims to create favorable and healthful working conditions for people, while EPA is intended to coordinate practical actions of the government on the environment’s behalf (Cusick et al., 2017). The reports of OSHA may be necessary when pilots do not get enough rest because of the long flights. The reports of EPA can be effective if a particular flight route produces high levels of pollution, endangering certain areas.
