Christianity is one of the most important and popular world religions. It was founded approximately near 33 AD in Palestine, and it is centered on the personality of Jesus Christ, the life and deeds of whom were described in the Gospels (Köstenberger, 2020). For Christians, Jesus was a messiah, a god’s son, and the Savior of humanity. Christianity has existed already for 2000 years, and for that time, it left a grand legacy for philosophy and culture. The influence of Christianity has been topical during its existence because its foundation and worldview were deep, strong, and answered people’s questions.
The figure of Christ is a complicated one since it is thought that he possessed a dual personality. Christ had to have a divine nature to overcome the issue of sin affecting God’s essence. Still, since God cannot die, He had to become a man in order to die as the Savior. That is why God’s Son had to enter the universe as both a man and a God. First and foremost, Jesus was a man. His disciples never questioned the man of Nazareth’s humanity. In His suffering, “He learned obedience” (Hebrews 5: 8), “was hungry” (Matthew 4:2), “thirsty” (John 19:28), exhausted, and needed sleep (Matthew 8:24) (New International Version, 2011). He was reliant on God as a human being (John 5:19) and was tempted (Luke 4:1-13) (New International Version, 2011). He also needed to preserve His relationship with God by prayer.
Jesus, on the other hand, was not only a man but also a true God. He is the Creator of all, according to John (John 1:3) (New International Version, 2011). He wanted those who heard Him believe in Him (John 6:40) and claimed that their everlasting destiny would be determined by their faith or lack thereof (New International Version, 2011). “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35), “the light of the world” (John 8:12), resurrection, and life are all expressions used by Christ to affirm this fact (New International Version, 2011). When it comes to the reasons for Jesus’ coming to earth, it is said that he “came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10) (New International Version, 2011). In other words, the church is the result of His coming to earth. Thus, Jesus did not come to spread the gospel; rather, He came for the gospel to appear to be spread.
Along with the nature of Jesus, another concept that is essential to Christianity is restoration. According to the Christian worldview, the solution to human problems lies through believing in God, living a righteous life, and following God’s will. If a person follows these rules, their soul will be redeemed, and he goes to paradise, a place where the souls of the dead lead a blissful existence. God presents himself in the world through divine grace: a specific manifestation of God that helps people to follow the righteous way. Grace appears to those who have faith in God, who believe in the divine nature of the world, and that the events described in the Bible and the Gospels are true.
One of the basic things that constitute a graceful way of life is repentance. A righteous Christian should realize that their nature is sinful and that he should struggle with it throughout their whole life. Repentance is a decisive act in the transformation of the human soul that is necessary for salvation. The endpoint in the transformation of society in Christianity should be the second coming of Christ. Until then, Christ’s and the church’s followers must spread the faith and prepare for the Second Coming.
To conclude, the life of Jesus, His actions, and His death on the cross serves as an example for the life of every Christian, as His crucifixion atoned for the sins of mankind. If a person follows Christian precepts, their soul goes to heaven. During their lifetime, Christians should believe in God and spread the faith and God. These concepts define the worldview of Christianity and are an essential part of it.
