Cloud Computing Service Models and Providers

Background

This document offers a concise summary of the various cloud computing service models and key cloud service providers. It covers the possible advantages and drawbacks of moving Don & Associates’ technical infrastructure to the cloud. Financial services for small and medium-sized businesses are provided by Don & Associates. The organization’s long-term goal is to broaden its reach to include the commercial sectors of the Northeastern states of the United States.

Statement of Need

The business owner is concerned about how much money it will take to purchase extra machinery and its upkeep and space availability. The proprietor is searching for a creative answer to cut the operational costs associated with the upcoming expansion. With its pay-as-you-go pricing mechanism, the cloud would be an efficient and cost-effective method for handling data, reducing the frequency with which additional hardware would be required. In addition, there is no cost associated with the resources that are not utilized (Lima, 2021). The cloud service takes care of management and maintenance, reducing the time and money spent on employees. Because it exists in a virtual environment, the cloud can accommodate any amount of space that may be required.

Cloud Service Providers

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been operating since 2002 and is widely considered the best cloud service provider available today (Chand). In addition to Elastic Key Transfer, Management, Amazon CloudWatch, and the other services already mentioned, these services. AWS offers Simple Route Compute, Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), CloudTrail, Queue Service, AWS Relational Notification, Amazon SimpleDB, Storage Database, and AWS Relational Notification (Saraswat & Tripathi, 2020). The benefits of using AWS are its user-friendliness, wide selection of tools, and scalability in terms of both servers and users.

Microsoft Azure, first released in 2010, is currently the world’s second-largest cloud service provider. Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform that offers various services for different users. These include: Mixed Internet Tools, Integration; + Blockchain; Reality; DevOps; Machine Virtual Stack; Media; Learning; Security; Analytics; Compute; Storage; Developer; Management; Migration; Databases; Mobile; Desktop; Identity. Microsoft Azure has high availability, is scalable, and is cost-effective. With a 99.95% SLA, Microsoft Azure is available 99.265 days each year. This equates to a total of 4.38 hours of downtime per year (Kamal et al., 2020). With Azure, a person can easily increase or decrease their server’s processing power with the click of a mouse.

Google Cloud Platform launched in 2008, making it the third-oldest and one of the most successful cloud service providers in the world. Compute, storage, databases, analytics, networking, mobile, developer tools, management tools, Internet of Things, security, and enterprise applications are just some of the many services offered by Google Cloud. Google Cloud has advantages in three main areas: cost, safety, and efficiency (Sharma et al., 2020). Google Cloud is 40%-50% less expensive than AWS and Azure. Second, using Google Cloud, one can maintain a real-time audit trail of all the people who have access to their data. Lastly, the functionality of Google Cloud is exceptional.

After analyzing the available cloud providers, I feel comfortable suggesting AWS. The clientele of Don & Associates would benefit from the intuitive interface provided by AWS. The scalability of their server resources is infinite, so they can grow or shrink as needed. AWS’s pay-as-you-go model will also help Don & Associates’ expansion costs stay manageable.

Don & Associates’ biggest expansion worries will be solved if they use AWS. To begin, there is no longer an economic barrier to expanding the current toolset. His services can be virtualized, eliminating the need to acquire costly physical hardware. Secondly, AWS’s administration services resolve the problems of upkeep and storage. They offer regular system checks and maintenance for their customers. The sky’s the limit regarding storage because AWS’s servers have nearly infinite capacity. There are always negative consequences to migration. Primarily the time required to convert one’s records and operational procedures. Taking time away from the office might harm productivity. This means one should make a thorough relocation strategy to reduce problems.
