The greatest challenges with time management
I think that my biggest time management problem is my short attention span. Differently put, I tend to get distracted very easily. Also, I am surrounded by a multitude of potential distractions at any given time. Such distractions can be represented by other people, digital devices, the internet, mass media, news, and even my personal cravings such as a sudden desire to have a snack when I need to study. I read that it is possible to improve attention by doing simple exercises and by reading. Currently, I am working on this issue trying to make myself more effective as a learner and worker.
The effective strategies to overcome these challenges
Parallel with my exercises, I use other strategies that help me manage my problem with attention. In particular, prior to starting to work on an assignment, I switch off and put away all of my devices so that they could not serve as temptations for procrastination or sudden distractions. Also, I prefer to work in solitude locking myself in the room so that other people cannot access me. Another strategy is choosing quieter places for work and blocking outside noises. Sometimes, when I cannot have a quiet room just for myself, I use earplugs or sound-cancelling headphones to create a quiet environment. This helps me gain and retain focus for longer periods.
